equipment & experience
Dr. Masuda is committed to obtaining the latest optometric equipment. Utilizing a flat-panel LCD monitor, vision is measured by an electronic visual acuity system. In addition, a computerized autoperimeter is utilized to assess peripheral vision. Employing a computerized imaging system, digitized photographs of the external or internal structures of the eye can be captured to assist with analyzing and diagnosing eye conditions. These images can be stored on computer hard disk and later retrieved for comparison.

To improve the efficiency of our in-office laboratory, we have incorporated a computerized lens edging system. This allows us the flexibility to provide glasses (in some cases) in one hour.
Recently, Dr. Masuda has added the capability to perform computer-assisted color vision testing. If you have a significant difference in correction (right eye versus left eye), a computer-driven test for aniseikonia (image size difference) can be performed and specialized lenses to minimize or eliminate unwanted symptoms can be designed. Utilizing the Panoramic 200 Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope, Dr. Masuda can perform an Optomap Retinal Exam.
Being residency trained in contact lens fitting, having over 20 years of practice experience, Dr. Masuda specializes in the hard-to-fit contact lens patient. Dr. Masuda has successfully fitted patients with presbyopia, high astigmatism, keratoconus, refractive surgery, and corneal transplants.
Dr. Masuda welcomes children of all ages. We have visual acuity charts and cards suited to test children who have not mastered the alphabet. In addition, DVD children movies can be played during the examination to capture the attention of the child.
